C-River To Adopt Reps' Observations On MDGs

Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State has pledged to incorporate observations made by the House of Representatives Committee on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) of the state to realize its 7-point Agenda. He spoke while receiving the Committee led by its Deputy Chairman, Hon Adewale Aribisala after inspecting some projects in the State to ascertain their level of achievement. Imoke said the State has initiated some intervention programmes aimed at improving the condition of its citizenry. He further explained that the State has articulated some programmes to address problems encountered by the people stressing that under its health care delivery programme 150 health centres have been earmarked for renovation while human capacity remains a challenge to the Ministry of Health. While assuring the committee that they would see some remarkable changes when they call again, he said some of the projects they inspected were delayed and not abandoned as their recommendation or suggestions will be taken into effect. He also disclosed that the state needs an MDG office with consultants and engineers to ensure the attainment of its goal. The Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Millennium Development Goals (MDG), Hon Adewale Aribisala said the team, while in the state, had visited locations, and suggested that projects in the state need a consultant to take a cursory look at them and highlight their success as well as clearly define their base line.
Aribisala said they expected to see action when next they visit the state to determine how far it had gone.
